insulation under the hood

Is it alright if I take the insulation off from under my hood?? It's all ripped up and is hanging down. Is there any reason I can't take it off, like heating the hood and blistering the paint??

From what I've read, it shouldn't cause any trouble with the paint. There is a topic about this in the general tech board with a lot of replies to the purpose of the insulation. It was there not long ago so it shouldn't be hard to find.

ah dont worry about takeing it off...my car hasnt had one for 2 owners from what ive found out...gm put it there to fall down on your head when you work on the motor...(thats gotta be the reason...it doesnt do much else) my cars paint is fine by the way

p.s. i think takeing it off might help out with cooling a bit to...it seems to trap a bit of heat...but that might just be my crazy thinking
