Broken interior door panels...
I need to replace my inner window sweeps so I bought brand new GM ones for about $50 ea. When I took apart the door panel, I noticed that the holes at the top of the panel were all torn, it being cardboard and all. But that is what holds down the inner sweeps.
Anyone know how to fix them properly so that it will be like new. I checked with my frineds and a local Chevrolet dealership and he told me that GM discontiued the door panels as well as a lot of interior parts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks pookey, its a very informative tech article. But it doesnt explain how to repair the holes where the top plastic (inner window sweep) attatches itself to the cardboard door panel. The holes on my door panel are torn because the shop that replaced my window motor and door lock actuator just tore the panel off the door ripping the holes out. But thanks anyway.

you can either make new pannels out of something like masonite or auto upholstery places will have door pannel board you can cut and cover them yourself, or you can use hot glue to attach the two together instead of the stock fasteners.

Thats the only way to remove the trim and window sweep. I did the same thing myself and put a new trim piece on, its not loose and is staying in place, so don't worry about it.
I would not glue it in, because what if you
have to work on the window again.

Yeah, the shop that did my power window motor and door lock actuator just tore off the panel. I know it was not broken before cause I attempted to replace the motors my self prior to letting the shop do it. And my panel were still fine. I knew there was a technique to it before I took the panels apart. I figured the shop would know what they were doing and that I didnt have to tell them about the panels.
Anyway, thanks for the help guys.
