F body plans for the future

I recently read in a Road and Track magazine that Gm said that they dicontinueing production of the Camaros and Firebirds in the plant just in Quebec. Well I talked to the son of an owner of a Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealership, and he let me in on Gm's plans. The Firebird is GONE, but the sports car gap in Pontiacs line will be filled be the new Fiero. As for the Camaro it is taking a leave of absense (to build interest) but the new one will be presented in 2005, 3 years after they get cut. Odd tactics, we will se if they work. Anyone know anything else?

You can check out the Opel web site. But I believe it is a 4 banger, with a six as an option. Opel's site: "Opel Speedster's 2.2-litre 16-valve ECOTEC engine" The six is what made the old Fiero.

Thats funny cause I just talked to a manager at a Pontiac Dealer around me and he told me that unlike rumors, GM hasn't said anything at all about ending the Camaro or Firebird....and ya think if they were gonna he'd be the first to say to try to sell me one, he knew I was in there with a rather large bank account.

Closing for the same reason it was closed elsewhere, no tech. It is an interesting discussion, though. Take it to NEThirdgen.org, or the 5'th gen board at camaroz28.com.
