How do you fix the Tripometer??

Does anybody know how to fix a broke tripometer?? It seems they are broke on darn near every thirdgen. Does anybody know where to take it to be fixed or if it can be??

If your odometer works and your trip odometer doesn't then the gears are broken... you can either replace it or take the assembly apart and replace the gears...

mine was broken and I took the whole speedometer apart and it wasn't the gears at all, it was a part of the main housing (plastic) that had broken off and it caused all of the numbers to move at once and get stuck after 9 the only way to fix it is buy a new speedometer from a junk yard or from GM if they still have them.

Cape Coral Speedometers is where I sent mine. A local place here wanted $192 to fix the tripometer and re-calibrate the speedo. So sent it off and it was only $75 plus very quick turn around. Hope this helps!
