on my tire it says 235/55/16. now i know the 16 stands for the rim size, but what exactly does the 235, and the 55 stand for? i have the 92 z rims, would i be able to put 245/50/16 tires on the rimes?

the tread with is 235mm wide. the height of the tire from the rim to the tread is 55% of 235mm and the tire fits a 16in wheel. whether or not 245/50/16 will fit depends how wide your rim is, but i doubt you will have a problem fitting 245's if you already have 235's on now. just remember that with the 235/55/16's, the tire diameter is 26.177" while 245/50/16's would be 25.646" the difference will throw off your speedo

 

245/50-16 would probably make your speedo correct since it's the factory size for 16x8 wheels
