Media Blasting

Rear half done, front half being done this week.

This is done with glass media at 40psi. Then the car is sprayed with Eastwood 'after blast' to keep it from flash rusting.

It beats using a DA and creates a nice profile on the body for primer to etch to, and it completely removes any previous filler or rust that was hiding under the paint that might pop up down the road. $750 to do the whole car including the urethane bumpers.

Doors + rear quarters done together, front fenders, hood, front/rear bumper covers done off the car.

Glass bead I believe from what I've read won't leave the surface rough enough for primer, so you would have to go over the car with a da or risk adheasion problems.

You bet. well taped off!

Unfortunately I found that the drivers door had about a quart of filler in it from collision damage. At least the car really had no rot, other than the blackish spot you see behind the drivers door which just needs a little filler to hide the pitting.

Re: Media Blasting

Just waiting for the hood to be finished. The car will be painted with doors/fenders/hood on, but everything else painted off the car.

Thinking about WA-9414 GM yellow with black accents (bumperetts, mirrors, t-tops, wheels, maybe wing?)

Re: Media Blasting

Jams and body primered with proform epoxy. (two wet coats).

Look at the drivers door. Not sure If I want to use the amount of filler required to save it.

Got a lot of filler to do. Then more primer and color.

It is. I changed my mind though, and bought a gallon of tangerine twist.

Not many orange formula's. In fact, I don't recall seeing any.

Re: Media Blasting

Finished. gotta wet sand the clear for numerous reasons but, this is the color.

Tangerine Twist basecoat, with PPG MC-161 clear.

This car has like hundreds of hours of filling and blocking. I could have painted it black but I just wanted to go bright.

Re: Media Blasting

Thank you guys for the compliments!

Hopefully start getting everything together next week. I gotta spray all the trim stuff this weekend before it gets too cold.
