4th gen console ? (need definate answer)

I know the manual consoles will work but I have read conflicting stories about the auto ones. I can get an auto one dirt cheap but need to know if it will work. Thanks

An auto console WILL NOT clear your stock shifter's shift linkage without modification...Anybody who has made this work either modified the console, had a shorter shifter, or got some flawed center console that was taller than the rest.

I was just looking at several consoles today as a matter of fact and the auto console is much lower profile than the manual.

I even cut out some of the guts of my manual console for a "better" fit.

I would love to see someone prove me wrong, or come up with an exact year/model auto console that fit in their exact year/model thirdgen, as this would solve a lot of disputes.

Thanks for the response, I'll go with the manual.
