Is it true that in 1982 the Z28's came with fiberglass hoods? If so does anyone have one is good condition that they are willing to sell

 

A buddy I work with has a 83 Z-28 with the fiberglass hood (factory). But I dont think he wants to sell. Its the one with the flapper deals that open up when you gun it.

I found one in the Junk Yard for $15. After reading this Im going to feel guilty of cutting it to fit my scoop.

I spent over a year looking for one of these hoods, finally found one. There is one currently on ebay, I think it's under Z28 Hood or 1982 Z28 Hood, something like that. Unfortunately, parts for the mechanism that pops the scoops open is not available any more from GM. However, the rubber cowl seal is. Good Luck!

 

Yeah my buddy has been having a hard time looking for that mechanism. No luck so far.
