Tightening exterior door handle - how difficult?

When I bought my 92 Firebird, the driver's side exterior door handle was loose. It is so loose that when I hit a bump, it rattles a little. It doesn't bother me much, but I'm worried that it will let loose and scratch my paint. How difficult is it to tighten it down? Do you have to remove the entire interior door panel?I know that when I removed the door handles on my 75 Firebird, it was a pain in the butt, I'm just hoping it isn't as tough on my 92.

You do remove the door panel to tighten/remove the handle; however, the spring may be broken, which is fairly common. Replacement then would be necessary to stop the noise.

James is right, there's no tightening them. Just replace it. The dealer has them and they're not too much $$$.

you'd have to remove the handle, cut out the part behind the old handle, weld in a new piece and smooth out the door, then install a shaved lock system.

A shaved set up would look sweet. I have thought about it but I am bad at getting out of my car and shutting the door while it's running...that would suck.
