Re: 1990 Iroc Convertible Build
This build has been challenging and exhausting. I have a list of items that still need attention but I can drive it and enjoy it for now. Thank you for all of your help, specially to Jon (Pocket) who has helped me quite a bit and Hawk's Third Generation.
Some of us who are not mechanics but want to get our hands into the hobby are led by people with patience. Thank you for that.
The LS1/T56 drive train is phenomenal. I have a lot of respect for the L98/tpi but for me, because of my limited mechanical knowledge, prefer the LS1. I plan on keeping my sons car (1991 Z28 /T5) with the original L98. I'm just going to change the induction to a Superram and a T56 that I have. For a person like me who is not a mechanic, the LS1 is easier. There are guys that have the TPI's figured out and swear by them, I wish I had their knowledge. I currently have a small "electrical mis" in the engine on my sons car and cannot figure it out. This is when I wish for the LS1. I'll eventually figure it out.
I'm tired on working on this car, I just want to drive it.

Re: 1990 Iroc Convertible Build
Thank you. The Luv is another project that I'm currently also working on. I've done a lot of work on that one. It was a basket case just like my a convertible Iroc. The Luv still looks like a basket case from the outside. I completely took that truck apart, engine bay and interior and I've been putting it back together. The interior looks close to new and the engine bay is close to being finished.
The engine is a rebuilt and balanced Isuzu g200 block from an Isuzu pup ( same engine as original just bigger Pistons), bored over .30 and the original g180 head for a bit more compression. Small performance Delta cam (good up to 6000rpm), dual valve springs with titanium retainers, header, side draft intake with a Dellorto 45 carb, electronic ignition mated to a 5 speed transmission. Just wanted to add a few extra ponies.
Part of the build is on the luvtruck forum with lots of pictures. Take a look, the thread address is below.

Nice! Here in Michigan those truck are pretty much rusted away and long gone. I remember those Isuzu motors are real hard to kill. Back in the 80's my construction boss had one and ran it to death but it just kept going and going. That interior ans engine bay looks great. Another awesome project.

Neat little trucks. My neighbor had a red one when I was growing up. Very cool.
I've been saying for a very long time that GM is missing the boat by not building a small truck like this...easy MPG helps for their truck CAFE numbers. The Damn Colorado is as big as an old GMT400 full size.
