need help striping paint from bumper

Whoever painted my 88 formula(black) before I bought it, painted the bumper pieces with the body paint. Now it is flaking off of the bumper and looks terrible. I took some of the paint chips off with a razor, it gets much harder toward the edges. I tried sandpaper but it is scratching the bare parts of the bumper. Does anyone have any advice?

i just got in from sanding my front nose piece on my t/a actually. the best way i think is to use a D/A sander with 220 grit or 320. i had to use 150 in the really bad spots, but then went over all of it with 220. the 220 will take off paint and leaves it really smooth, the only thing is you have to change the paper alot cause the grit wears off fast. make sure you tape off your fenders if you dont take the bumber off, and i would recomend taking the little grey bumpers out as well, it makes for a better job. then spray it with good primer and paint and make sure you put some flex additive in it. hope this helps. lil jay
