Can anyone tell me what the part number for the air dam that mounts directly under the radiator is for an 88 GTA? Ya know, the piece that keeps your car from overheating on the highway. Mine got ripped completely off when a Tractor trailer I was driving beside blew a tire. A huge hunk flew under my car and cleaned out the air dam, as well as scaring the living crap out of me. I have a 20 minute highway drive back and forth to work, and right now I've found I can do about 55 and keep the engine temps from going over about 230, but 55 in a 65 is borderline unbearable for me. I tried ordering a new one from Pontiac, and when I went to pick it up this morning, it was the molding piece for a standard firebird with no ground effects.

The first time I had to replace mine the had the wrong thing to. Tell the parts guy you need the valance, or just do what I did, tell him you need the little molded plastic part, tell him it's about twenty bucks and a big seller.

 

Try P/N 12395557. This is used for Trans Ams & GTAs with the W62 Aero pkg. 1986-1990.
