hood help

Hey,
I am just getting my car running. I did a v6 to 350 swap. Any how its carbed and I don't have enough clearance for the air filter with the stock hood. do you think a 4" cowl hood is to much. there is a 3" or so one. what do you all think? Also I'm not running an electric fan will I clear even with the cowl hood? I believe its a 17 inch fan. thanks ever one. I hope to put picks up soon. Its a work in progress.

That, my friend, is all a matter of taste. What YOU like is what YOU like. do NOT let anyone here on these boards tell you different. I personally like as short of a cowel as possible IF I had to have one. If some people would post pix of their cowel then you could make the decision yourself.

Personally I wouldn't go with a 4" cowl hood unless you can back it up. I have a 2 1/4" cowl on my camaro and it looks great and I get lots of compliments on it.

But as stated, go with what YOU want to.

4" is pretty big. as posted earlier, you might want to have something to back it up (350-400+HP). plus, the size will interfere with with alot of your roadside vision. a friend of mine had one in his 3rd GEN maro and it was pretty huge.

althought it does look pretty crazy (in a good way). all depends on your taste.

Thanks for all your opinons. I do got about 400hp with my new 350. well I think I will go with a 4" I think its pretty bad a$$ after I looked at soom pics of them. I have seen the harwoods and the vfn fiberglass hood. which is better and how much are the vfn hoods there web site doesn't have price.
go to go.

i recently rebuilt my engine, snd purchased a 4 3/4 inch cowl hood. i love it, i dont think any hood looks as nice as the cowl, and i especially hate those twin turbo hoods
good luck
