HELP WITH IROC

Hey guys, this is my first post, and I don't know too much about cars but I hope to by joining this messge board. Anyway, I recently found an excellent 198 IROC Z-28, white w/ T-Tops for $3,000. It has a new paint jobs, like-new rims, and a decent engine and tranny, both stock. Not sure of ngine type, however. However, the only problem I have with it is a little thing on he interior. A note; this model HAS T-TOPS. Anyway, on the metal bar on the body that runs down the middle of the roof (the T-TOPS fit into it when they're on), there's glue rsidue. I assume something went there. Can anyon enlighten e as to what went in that spot?

Kev

welcome to the board! you picked a good board to chose might i add. that glue stuff is most likely just repair for the t-tops, they probably were coming lose, i wouldnt worry too much about it though. hey how many miles does the car have on it? just curious, cuz if it has like more than say 100-120 thousand miles on it, i would say 3 grand is kinda steep, if ya have any questions about anything just mail me at rpoortenga@hotmail.com
peace out and have fun with your car man

As for your engine type, run the VIN number on this site. Also, just to be sure, make sure its an IROC. Look at the RPO codes (on the bottom of the cover to the back glove box or inside the door) for the code B4Z. If it's got it, its an IROC. Welcome to the boards and good luck.

From: pgh,pa,
in his post he said it was an L98 IROC-Z which would be the 350 TPI , also it may be possible that the weather stripping has been removed and that may be why there is glue residue there...

Actually he said 198 which I think he meant 1986,87,88,89. Probably the year and not the engine code. Also if he hadn't spent much time researching he wouldn't know what L98 was. If it did have the 350 and he looked on the RPO code list it still wouldn't list L98 it would list B2B. Just helpin' out please don't flame back my flame suit is in the cleaners.
