Some Jack@ss hit my car!!!!
Geez, Try to do whatever you can to keep your car nice and BAM!, some truck driver says he didn't see my car. I let my girlfriend drive it to work yesterday(she loves that car, i couldn't say no) Anyways, the guy put a little dent between the driver side quarter panel and the rear bumper. I got 2 estimates last night and they were only 6 cents apart from each other! Anyways the total is 1391.60. I know my dad could do my whole car for 2 grand. If the guy doesn't pay out of his pocket and turns it into his insurance, will the insurance company cut me a check or will they make a check out to the place i am getting it fixed. I really want them to give me a check so i can fix my whole car. Anyone have any stories that may give me an idea of what will happen?

My dad had his van stolen a few years ago, when it was recovered the insurance company did not want to pay him for the damages done to the van, they would only pay a repair place. He told them that HE paid for the insurance and HE is going to get paid the money for repairs.
in short, the ins company gave him the money. I think By law they have to give you the money. It is Your car, and what you do with the cash is up to you.
I know I was paid the money for the damage done to my car when some punks threw rocks off a bridge when I was traveling 70mph down I69.
Just a hint, push for a loaner car in the price as well, when you get damage estimates. That should help gobble up some of the deductable.
Chances are since it is under $1500 the insurance company might never look at the car and just pay you off, without an adjuster. $1500 seems to be the magic number for my insurance compnay at least.

I think you will get a check. That is what my Ins. did when I hit a deer and when another guy rear ended me his ins just gave me another check.

yeah but if the estimate is more than what the blue book is or what u paid for it, sometimes those jackass idiots give u a check for waht u paid for it or what the blue book says. thats what happened to myel camino and they bought it off me. i still got the money but no more elcamino.

Anyone Else? How long do you think this should take? I am hoping to have it resolved in the next week. I also think i might by buying my second third generation. I have a chance to pick up a 91 Gta for $1900, it has 95,000 miles and is in pretty good shape. I will elt you all know how that pans out. So i guess i am just looking for a few more exmaples of what happen to others in my situation. Anyone else?
