Someone tried to jimmy the lock

ARRG I hate those people that just want your stuff. I took it to the repair shop (from that timing problem I had, it was the coil) and we picked it up that night, I find the right passenger lock messed up, as if a screwdriver was used. At least they didn't get in. How much of a hassle would it cost to replace the lock? I guess i'd have to replace all the other ones too right? What if I shave it?? (I have pwr locks w/ remote keyless, it just looks bad right now) TIA

well i think we had the same problem. at one point before i got my camaro, someone pried the lock completely out of the door. when i got it, there was no lock on the passenger side. i went to a locksmith and he made the lock cylinder and made a key to match my existing keys. after all was said and done, it was 70 bucks to get it all done, with an extra set of spares for my car. the problem i now have is that i need body work done to make the lock fit flush with the rest of the door since there are holes around where the lock cylinder sits. oh well. hope this helps

That sounds like a good idea tweenkies. I do wonder however how much it would cost to just shave that lock. Would the door lock inside still work? Would it be cheaper than to do the locksmith thing? (I am considering this option because my car alarm has remote keyless entry)

Most auro parts stores have replacement lock sets. I have an 85 bird that I broke the door lock key ( no spare). Question is how good are you at removing /installing your inside door panels. Heard they can becoam a real B-%$#
