hatch hinges - evi incarnate

I haven't found anyone that offers new hatch hinges. The old pot metsl ones really suck. Going to the junkyard doesn't really help either. All of the ones that I have found are similar to mine. Is there no way to reinforce them? Somebody needs to make new replacement STEEL ones.
