Hey guys. I want to change spoilers on my car. As some of you know I put a base firebird high rise like spoiler on my sport coupe and iv decided to go with the standard Camaro fin. Hownhard is it for me to change or am I better just getting a new hatch?

 

It would only be as hard as drilling the holes in the correct locations and filling in the existing set with putty or whatever you want to use. Changing the hatch or even just the metal part would be harder.

 

IMO i wouldnt fill the old holes with putty, i'd weld them up and grind it flat. sounds to me like its perfectly doable.

 

This is my first post. I just bought an 87 Trans Am that was on it's way big things... but then they guy sold it. So now I get to finish it off the way I want. It did not have a rear spoiler, but it did have the holes where the big wrap around whale fin was. I don't like those at all... so today I just picked up the 3 piece camaro spoiler/fin off of an 82 from a junk yard. I've got a couple other projects on the car before I tackle that one. I might get started this weekend, but definitely by next weekend I'll get started. I'll start taking pictures and posting them. This is gonna be from start to finish... as in the wing right now looks like it's straight outta a junk yard. One of the corner pieces is broken and all 3 pieces are covered in mold/moss and age has caught up to them. I started drawing a template tonight just to see if they would even fit. The first problem that I see is drilling the holes in the correct spots. You can't get the pieces flush against the body because of the bolts/pegs, so Im guessing the holes might have to be either larger or oblong to allow shifting into place. Give me a week and I'll either have a swiss cheese rear end or an installed camaro wing.

 

Odd choice for a TransAm. In my mind that just looks off for some reason...
