Replacing inside of door on 91 Pontiac Firebird

I tried google, but found nothing so here I am. My passenger side window recently stopped going up all the way and after removing the panel, I found the issue: the motor/regulator rivets that hold it to the door had been drilled out and replaced with nuts and bolts. this is perfectly fine, in fact I'm glad they were, but the top one had ripped the inner portion of the door and crumpled it. so while the motor things it's rolling the window up, it is actually just moving itself a little due to that peace, effectively, being loose.

the obvious answer, to me, is to replace that whole thing, but all I can find is the exterior door shell, without the inside peace. anyone know where I can find it? if not, this car may very well find it's way to a junk yard.

You could just weld a washer to where the hole is and use one bigger than the tear. Or at worse replace the whole door which shouldn't be to hard to find another door in California. I wouldn't scrap the entire car over one minor problem.

You aren't going to find a half a door shell and it's way more work to replace than to fix the problem you have.
Either replace the whole door or weld or otherwise reinforce that spot.

maybe what I saw for the outside of the door was a mistake on my part then. I don't have a welder available or I would have no problem just repairing it. I don't live in California anymore (just moved last month) and finding junked cars is quite a bit more difficult in Louisiana. as far as wanting to junk the car, that was about 70% insane frustration at the situation and 30% just tired of fixing one thing and finding three more things that are wrong.

Could also use body glue to add an extra sheet of metal.

Re: Replacing inside of door on 91 Pontiac Firebird

will that be strong enough for the window motor? I mean, if it has enough torque to break the metal in the first place, is glue enough to add another one reliably?

Would it be so hard to take it to a "old school-do it right" body shop and have them weld a washer to it?
