What's a c&c t top?
What's a c&c t top?
One of my ttops broke, and now I'm looking for the right side or the pair. I found some but it said its a c&c t top. Mines a 1983 z28. And Also will any third gem t top fit in mine?

Re: What's a c&c t top?
c&c t tops were an after market conversion . factory t tops came in (as far as I know) 3 different types . 1. hook type latches , 2. small pin type latches , 3. larger pin type latches . you with an 83 may have the hook type latches . I may have a set with hook latches . PM me if interested and I will dig into my pile . good luck .

Re: What's a c&c t top?
C&C stands for Cars and Concepts. As already mentioned, there is nothing about them that is common with the factory t-top. Fortunately spare parts are still available from the sunroofdoctor.

I have also picked up a few spare C&C t-tops since my 88 IROC turned out to have this style of aftermarket t-top on it.

good luck trying to find a set of those. Next to impossible. A guy that owns a yard where I live has a firebird with a set but wants like 500 bucks and I was like hell nah.

A good chance. C&C tops were installed by the dealer or by an installer for the dealer on a car that came from the factory with a hard top.

Re: What's a c&c t top?
C&C conversions usually have a sticker located on the bottom of the rear hatch lid. If my car wasn't 50 miles away, I'd post a picture. And depending on year, there are also different C&C conversions to be had as well.

Re: What's a c&c t top?
A few of them actually have a "sunroof" type opening as well as being able to be removed.
So you can pop up the rear of the glass without removing the sunroof. Most are the ones you see shown on the boards.
I'd take a pic of my sticker, and the details, But I have only a few wider angle shots.
Here's a big pic of what the water channels and other bits look like with the tops out. Notice the black felt barriers that are on the front and rear of the roof. Regular factory T-Tops don't have these. These are there to hide the rough cuts where the roof sheet metal was removed.

That and the glass on C&C T-tops is etched with the C&C logo if I remember. Will need to take a picture of mine.

Re: What's a c&c t top?
In the mid to late 80's I worked for a shop in Tucson, AZ, where I installed about a dozen of these C&C T-top kits. They were a real PITA, and I came to dread the days when I knew I was going to be doing one of them. They weren't an awful lot of work, compared to some of the leather interior kits I installed, but I always felt like it was sort of pointless when you consider that it was far more expensive to install the kit ($2,100, IIRC) than it was to order from the factory. They weren't a bad kit. Part of the install job was to drive it through our car wash tunnel to check for leaks. They rarely leaked at all.

Re: What's a c&c t top?
We tried to talk the dealers and customers into weld-in sub. Connectors, but we're rarely successful. I used to put the car's on jackstands to do the cuts. The other guys made fun of me for that.
It came with this tracing paper template that had chalk lines on it. You taped it down once it was lined up and rubbed it with the back of a pen, or something smooth. That would transfer the chalk to the paint. Remove the tracing paper, and there were your cut lines.
