91-92 dash in 83 Bird
I found a near perfect condition 91 firebird dash in the junk yard the other day, the only thing wrong is the corner of the dash pad is broken off, due to the fact that it was wrecked. Anyways, I have a 140mph speedo from an 87 GTA, which should bolt right into the 91 dash. Anyway, how hard would it be to put the 91 dash into my 83? I am aware that I would have to convert to electric speedo, but thats not a big deal. What about wiring? Could I just put the 91 wiring harness in my car? I am going to remove the ECM from my car, so that will probably make it a little easier.

not really sure on the total severity, but make sure you get as much as you can... The dash pads appear to be interchangable for all years firebird, the only differnce is the early dash pads have an extra highlight line through the edge.
As for the dash itself, IF you have Fuel injection then that will make life a little easier, but the wire harness' will be different for sure if you have a carb. You may be able to re-wire your new dash to work with your existing wire harness, once you have the dash apart the conversion should be pretty straight forward. It also may be possible to use your mechanical speedo.
I think you have to become somewhat creative to get everything to work right...
Anything is possible if you are willing to take the time & figure out how things work.

Cool - I assume it will bolt to the firewall (I hope). I would rather convert to electric speedo anyway, I hate my ugly 85mph gauge cluster, and I already have a 140 GTA cluster.

I would never claim this job to be easy, but it might be, chances are you will spend a few days at least trying to figrue it all out. I have no idea what all you will have to do, but it will be a learning experience.
ALSO remember to get the center console out of your donor car.
