My buddy has a 2 inch cowl on his car, I'm personally not a big fan of the looks, but the biggest issue in my opinion is that because the seats in these cars are so low, it makes the car's visibility even worse
The other negative is hard to get back on solo without nicking fenders. on the plus its extremely light And engine runs cooler. I also primed the bumper cover. But i am still in need of the correct bumper chin...if anyone has one.
You can buy stainless steel hood pins and that will stop the rust probs. That's what I did.
For a street car or even street/strip I do not like full pin on hoods due to the getting it on and off prob that you mentioned. Plus if at a car show, parking lot, even some dragstrips, no real good place to sit the hood. Most will throw a blanket on top of car and sit hood on roof.
I like bolt on rear atleast and can live with pin on front for street, but not a full pin on lift off hood
I have never owned one but can see a few reasons to get rid of a 4 pin hood.
Especially if you get really nice paint. "Scratch city"
If you decide to use hood pins on the front of a new bolt on hood, I have come up with a way to use only one hole in the hood for the pin to slide through. No plate mounting screws.
And its stainless.
I do like the rear bolt-ons with pins in the front. Keeping that fiberglass hood in decent shape with fresh paint will be next to impossible. And forget it if it just happens to be a windy day and you have to take that hood off.
I guess I can scour the yards for a steel hood until I'm ready to get a new one. Plus it will be easier to prime and open heh.
