advice for a boob

I have wanted an early 90s firebird since high school. I got one last Thursday. I'm having a blast. these cars are fun to drive. the car I bought is in very good mechanical shape but has some age to it. the doors rattle, the rubber over the window is torn, and the front end is a little loose. the door thread was awesome. as for the front end will rebuilding be adequate or are most of you updating the front suspension. this is a driver. I will not be doing any motor mods to make it faster. I assume a rebuild kit exists. whats the preferred kit out there?

Rebuild kits do exist. Spohn is a supporting vendor of this site:

http://www.spohn.net/shop/1982-1992-...GM-F-Body.html

Or 1AAuto

http://www.1aauto.com/1982-92-chevy-...=323797&y=1992

Hawks Thirdgen Parts:

You can also buy off Ebay and a ton of other places, or piece together your own. I don't think most people are updating their suspensions. They just don't need it as much as earlier models, even more so for a daily driver, imho.

Buy quality moog parts, most others will not hold up.

And for what its worth, the kit from Spohn has terrible reviews here for being low quality

Re: advice for a boob

replace all of the steering components as a unit. tie rod ends, center link, adjusters and idler arm. get it aligned once.

add ball joints and new struts if there is any concern over these parts.

take out the old assembly and put together the new assembly to the same length, install and drive directly to alignment shop.

compare prices to Rock Auto.

solid adjuster sleeves are available from several vendors if you don't want to use the stock style. I've used some from Coleman Racing.

Re: advice for a boob

I sell several components to rebuild your front and rear suspension (front & rear sway bar bushings, steering brace (aka wonder bar) end links. Also you didn't tell us if you have t-tops or hard top? I'd recommend installing a set of SFC (Subframe connectors) to increase the rigidity of the chassis.
