New t-top Headliner
Got a gift-cert to year-one for christmas and am looking to replace the ripped and shedding headliner in my car with one of thier pre-covered ABS plastic ones. Has anyone installed one of these? How do you like it? Anyone get one somewhere else pre-covered? With how old my car is I don't think mine is worth repairing, and I would probably screw it over anyway.

OK, to actually fix the headliner myself cost me only $25 bucks for the material & the Headliner spray Adhesive. If you have tears in your board I would recommend taking strips of fiberglass & some resin & re-inforcing all the edges & the torn area etc.
Of course it takes a little time, but I could think of other things I could use the money you would spend on the headliner. Besides, if you mess up your existing one, your not out a whole lot, you can still buy the new one.
IF you decide to try & tackle it yourself, when you go to JoAnn's or wherever you decide to buy the material, take some in your hands & stretch it, and try different ones if they are available, some are more stretchy than others, the stretchier the better, especially for T-tops.
Just a thought.

This is just my opinion but I would just go ahead and buy a new ABS one. Even tho you could possibly fix it I really doubt it would hold up that long unless you covered the whole thing in resin /and fiberglass. As they say "measure twice and cut once", you might as well make sure you do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again and since you have the money I'd just by a new one. But that's my opinion.
I agree with okfoz. If you screw it up, then get a new one, if you don't screw it up then you've saved money, learned something new, lost your fear of doing it, and have the pride and satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Do it right, put in a new one.I fitted one from Year One and its looks great, much better than any repair you could do.
The only tricky bit is if you have a roof console as the headliner doesnt come with the mounting holes cut ready.
Take your time though and you'll be pleased with the result

better than any repair job? Mine was broke in a few places & with a little time & care it looks like new. When I did mine, I was unaware of the aftermareket ones so I decided to fix it without contest. I am extreemely pleased with my results.
Unfortunately I think many people here (NOT ALL) want something quick & cheep & have it look like a million dollars. If you take your time, and do the job with patients, your results will exceed your expectations. Granted, I had to re-do mine 3 times before it came out perfect, thats why I know there are different stretchiness of headliner material. I went & bought the first stuff I came across, & I paid for my mistake. Live & learn.
I guess it comes down to what you are wanting to do. I believe in the art of repair over buying something new. Sometimes there is no choice. Like if you bought the car without a headliner. Personally I can think of 10 different things I could spend that money on. Like things that I cannot make or fix, like a new throttlebody. Give me enough time I could make one, but would I want to?
In my opinion (IMO)

Thanks for the info guys. okfoz kinda hit the nail on the head, was wondering if there was anything else I should spend the money on 1st. I also have a long list of things I need to do to my car, and year one has several of them, including the headliner and new carpet. I am all for repairing my own stuff, so I may put the cert towards the carpeting- which is kinda tough to "do it yourself" I also know that my headliner is cardboard and rotting, so not sure if it would even come out in one piece, will keep that in mind too. Heck, even if I get the headliner, I could always attempt a repair of the old one and sell it here...
