89 vs 91 Formula rear crash bar + honeycomb

I know the front is different, but will a 91 rear bumper from a 91 formula fit over the honeycomb of an 1989 or does the comb need to be swapped too?

I'm fairly sure they are different enough to be a issue.

Ahh. Ok. I'll grab that too. Thanks

Nothing like changing body parts after you've painted a car.

I think the 91-92 formula nose will look better with my ASDC ram air hood though.

Re: 89 vs 91 Formula rear crash bar + honeycomb

I swapped the other way to the 89 style. I noticed that the 91 honeycomb is about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thicker in places. The bumper cover would not be supported very well with out the right honeycomb. The steel bumper reinforcement bar does not have the holes drilled in all the right places for the 91 bumper cover bottom push tabs but that is easy to deal with. If it is not to much trouble get the right honeycomb.

He gave me the 91 honeycomb, but not the impact bar. So I guess I'll drill and screw it to the '89 impact bar.

Thanks for the info

The last one I tried to take off was horrendous. I am glad you had fun. Lol
That is why my car still has the 91 impact bar.

I actually didn't remove it, Don (89355irocz) did. I have a lift so when I do get around to swapping them, I'll just take mine off with the air ratchet. I looked at it today on the lift and it's just 8 bolt.

I probably won't have time to spray the parts this fall anyway. I have heat in the shop, but I get nervous using the spray gun when the furnace is on because I don't know how sealed the furnace is. But this spring I'll spray the bumper covers, ram air hood and it should look nice.
