Trunk won't open now

So after spending WAY more time than I should have getting the latch pull down mechanism working, the trunk on my convertible was "sticky" to open (turn key and would have to lift the lid with a good tug upward). Now I can't get it to unlatch at all.

There doesn't appear to be too many threads on this.

Any suggestions?

Re: Trunk won't open now

You'll have to wiggle the lid as you turn the key. Pray it will eventually release, otherwise you're S.O.L. Once you have it open look at the latch mechanism. Spray it with WD40 and compressed air, then lube it with silicone. If you test the latch mechanism and it is binding, then it should be replaced. I sell a remanufactured hatch pull-down unit. I also sell just the used latch assy for both the 86-87 and 88-early 91 pull-down units on my web site.

Here is the used latch assy you need.
