'92 firebird transam. Never had any trouble with this before, but for the past few weeks my headlights are not popping up when I turn the switch on. About 90% of time the left one pops up upon starting car, but if I shut the lights off and then reopen while driving, the left one doesn't open just a quarter way like it's struggling to open. The right one doesn't open at all. I can hear the motors working. I have to manually pull them up with my hands. Once I pull them up manually they do stay up. What could be going on and how do I fix?

 

Been there done that.. its the bushings inside the gears, they fall apart after so long thats what it will most likely look like when taken apart

 

Do the new ones look like this? and i have to open the headlight motor to replace them right?

Thank God. The guy I bought the car handed me two packs and said I might need them but didn't explain what they were for. I literally started having headlight issues a few days ago.

 

Do you know where I could get more of these bushings?
