Restore vs. Refinish (Player's Car)
All, Need some opinions and some suggestions... I've been cleaning up a 1988 Player's Car and am now ready to tackle the body. The car is rough it's been rear ended, sideswiped etc. (I have the picture proof lol) but I think that's part of the character. PO attempted to fix and gave up. I intend to repaint, redecal and drive. I'm not racing it, won't be a show car just wanting a clean looking car reflective of it's past life. I've had a few friends and "professionals" give me their opinion. I always get the do it right or don't bother. I don't want to spend 20K on a car that might not get 15K when I'm done. Thoughts on stripping the car with paint stripper vs. sanding? To metal? Leaving the original bondo, fixing rust and repainting? I'm ok spending the amount time as I'm off over winter and realize a paint job might be 8-10K but then I question the value. I'm also planning on keeping the car, not selling. Car will be garages and not see anything other than our canadian summers Appreciate your comments and thanks to all.

It's past the point of adding character. If it was wearing it's original race paint I would leave it be but it's already been worked on so taking it back to it's original glory with a new paint job would be better for this car. If you don't take it all the way and fix the damage when you put a paint job over the damage it's just going to look like a half-***** attempt on trying to fix it. Just my opinion.

Thanks Tealman92... maybe I was hoping for less work than I've got but you've made a solid argument!
