Best way to strip/prep hood hinges for "proper" paint

So years ago I got tired of my non glossy, half-baked GM painted hood hinges. I scuffed, primed and spray bombed them black. That made 'em better, but now that I'm preparing to paint the entire car (bright red), I'd really like to paint and clear the hinges to match everything else. What's the best way to strip and prep those hinges? I'd be happy to take 'em to a professional if need be to have 'em tanked or something, lol!

Thought about using that aircraft paint stripper, but that gets really messing. If need be though.....I'll do it.

The Aircraft paint remover sold in the normal metal container is good stuff, the aerosol version is really weak. If you can't find that your next best bet is to buy a cheapo hand held media blaster. The $20 version that looks like an HVLP spray gun, cut off the metal straw that goes into the media cup and hold it upside down. If you don't want either of those routes you should be able to have them media blasted (bead blasted) for probably $20. If a professional places sand blasts them (with sand) they will end up with that characteristic sand blasted feel and IMO will look horrible then with glossy paint on them.

Alternatively, my car is white and hood hinges are black, I like contrasting looks.

Couple of the guys came over today to help fit/test some of the body panels and we were discussing that. They like the black hinges too.

Now I'm undecided.

I sand blasted mine with a cheap sand blaster from Harbor Freight. Worked great.

Same here; I've gotten sooo much use from that $100 blaster that I can't even describe all the parts I've restored with it. door handles, seat tracks, exhaust manifolds, springs, rear ends, heads,.... and yes ---> hood hinges too! Heck; I even sand blasted all the little brackets for the fuse-box, relays and modules under the dash in my GTA! I usually begin blasting with '00' sand and use it to blast hard-core rusted parts first. By the 2-3rd time I've collected the sand for re-use it's just a fine powder and better suited for blasting the finish from painted or minor surface rusted parts.

Blast - Seal - Top-coat,.......... you WILL be satisfied !
