Hood release

My 89 RS Camaro release cable will not engage tried Wd 40 from under neath Need some advice Have even removed side mount inside car shredded cable and locked on vice grips .still no -go Any pics of actual release device would be helpful > Thanks

If you lay on your back and reach up to the hood release, you should be able to work the release lever with your finger. You need to move it in the direction of the driver's headlight. I can't say for sure this will work on your 89 Camaro, but it works on my 84 TA.
If the mechanism is gummed up, the lever will be harder to move.
Having another person push down on the hood in the area of the latch might help also.

If you lay on your back under the hood release you should be able to reach the bolts that hold the release bar with an extension and a socket. Did this at a parts yard to unlock the hood on a Firebird. Haven't tried it on a Camaro.
