I have no intentions of trying this, but a friend and I were discussing it and wondering if it's possible to convert a Camaro into a Firebird. Will the front clip swap over? Can Firebird quarter panels be welded on, etc?...

It can and has happened, but it should never even be talked about.

 

Sure you can do it, but why? It is funny, people think the two cars were clones... they kind of were, Cosmetically the Doors, glass, hatch and the roof panels are actually the only pieces that are interchangable. The quarter panels, the fenders, hood, are different. The wheel well openings are round on the Fireibrd and more elongated on the Camaro... The Camaro has harder fender flair creases, where the Firebird is softer.

Even the shape of the sail panels are different between the door and the hatch...

 

I never knew that about the sail panels...

 

No way, I can't believe that's true, unless you mean depth of panel and not the distance between the glass and hatch

 

The shape is different between them... The Firebird has a much more distinct highlight line than the Camaro... Obviously the Glass is the same on the hatch and the door, so the distance does not change, the shape of the hatch is the same,
