cowl induction hood

Does anyone have a picture of a firebird with a cowl induction hood? I'm planning on installing one with a fresh air inlet for my TPI. Has anyone else done this? It seems to me to be the best way to get fresh air into the motor. What do you think?

been there...thought about it.

Here is what I have come up with...not done it, but thought about it...

SLP makes the duel inlet for firebirds, and they use a different radiator hose, at least I think so, it looks that way... anyway, figure out which hose they use and install it. the stock heater hose is too high, and makes it difficult to run duct.

now you have clearance to get something from the cowl induction to the intake...

If you have ever looked at the 82-84 Ram air set up on the T/A you will see that when the hood closes there is a little rubber boot that seals when the hood is closed. You will need something like that so when your hood is down it will seal. from there you will need to find an appropriate place to install your airbox, whichever you choose. and then run either PCV pipe, or some other plastic pipe between everything and it should work...

One of my concerns has always been that the ducting & stuff that would need to be installed would look really cluttered unless you did a really nice job...Thats why I have not done it yet...

Thanks John- I'm determined to do this set-up!! The radiator hose info is good thinking. This project is just one of many I'm doing to the firebird, so in the spring i'll make sure I get a couple of pictures for you to see. Thanks again!!!!! moxman
