Need help

I have an 86 Iroc. I need help with the rear hatch striker plate wiring. I know it has power at all times from the diagram but don’t see a place for the wire to connect to.

This is what I have for information any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Need help

Are you talking about that lone wire coming from the from the latch assembly in the bottom photo? That wire is not used on Camaros. IIRC, It's for the rear compartment light on the Firebirds.

Edit: That black wire is the ground for the cargo compartment light. It goes to the switch on the rear trim panel. The wire I reference above is white. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Need help

Yes that would be the wire. It was connected to the rear hatch struts when I got the car. Once I connected the rear defogger there was no place to connect it. So I assumed that it had to be connected to something to get power. That and the diagram was showing the same thing. So I wasn’t sure and figured I would ask. Thank you very much for your help

Re: Need help

Sort of off-topic, but I noticed your car is yellow. Is that a 51U color code car? Curious, because my '86 IROC is 51U and your color looks brighter....

Re: Need help

I honestly don’t know its off an 84. My original hatch had holes for hood pins. Looked super cool but squeaked like crazy and couldn’t get lit to stop

Re: Need help

Ok, it probably was a repaint in something like Corvette yellow. I'm pretty sure they didn't offer yellow in 84 on the f-bodies

Re: Need help

Its for the 3rd brake light on the spoiler. I just put this back on my 1989 Formula 350 about 15 minutes ago. That striker powers the thire brake light when the hatch is closed.
