Hatch pull-down wiring

I replaced the guides/slides on my 89 IROC-Z hatch pull-down. When reassembling, I discovered a single black (presumably ground) wire with a female connector that I have no place to connect to. Feel like an idiot for not remembering where it goes. It is not depicted in the shop manual, and is in addition to number G303. It comes out of the larger harness that includes the other hatch and lamp wiring. Would appreciate some info on where it goes?

Thanks.

Re: Hatch pull-down wiring

Sounds like it might be the "Release Solenoid" wire that your describing. Does your car have a button on the center console to release the hatchback lock; Or is it a key-only operation ??

Re: Hatch pull-down wiring

Thanks for the response. Key-only operation, no button on the console. I should add that it's possible that it was never connected to anything. Don't remember disconnecting it -- but at my age, that's not unusual.
