Fixed the Sagging Door Problem - My way
Fixed the Sagging Door Problem - My way
I have been watching with great interest the activity regarding the sagging door problem. For my own reasons, I decided to enlist a professional to do the job. I had too many visions of cursing and tools flying across my garage and decided to leave it to a pro.
I picked the car up yesterday. It is snug, tight, and does not rattle nor move around (and I don't have to slam it hard to get it to shut).
Parts installed:
New lower hinge
New lower hinge pin and bushings
Total cost: $183
I am satisfied.

Well, like I said, removing the door looked like it was going to be an "unfulfilling" experience. Could it be done cheaper? Yeah, but my blood pressure did rise at all when I handed over my credit car and my 7 year old doesn't have any new words to try out at school...

Where do you get the parts?? So is it the lower hinge that wears and will not let the door shut right???
I assume that you can get the parts through a Chevy dealer. My body shop got the parts within 12 hours of requesting them, so I know they are available.

I decided to go "my way", but others on this site have used the solution described at the above site... It's really your choice.

See this is where im lucky... My dad works in the part department and I get everything at dealers cost + a 10% discount. The pin cost me $3 suttin amd the bushing 80 cents. And we put them in. It took about an hour to take everything off the door but it is worth it. Its like a brand new door.
