Looking at a 85 Z28 questions
Hey Ive been researching on this forum for past week about a Camaro i seen and been trying to study up on them. I am looking at a 85 Camaro Z28 I believe. I looked at the tail lights and they have 85 stamped on them and have the grid. I physically looked at the car for a few minutes after just looking at a picture. The car needs work. The car is missing the motor but looking at putting a 350 in. It has the Z28 logo on the dash and the speedo reads 145 mph. Has manual windows and locks. I glanced for the rpo but thought it was on the center console lid but didn’t see it but i guess was looking in wrong area.I’m going to go look at the car more. I was in a hurry when i first glanced at it.
Can anyone tell me what the original motor was/might have been? I am assuming it was a carb v8. It is a manual 5 speed car.
On the exterior door handles it says Camaro across the middle of the black handle. Is this a factory thing or something someone added.

Re: Looking at a 85 Z28 questions
Could be a carbed LG4 305ci (165hp, most common by far), carbed L69 305ci (190hp, early 5 speed IROC only), or TPI 305ci (215hp, auto only). Eighth digit of VIN will tell for sure (H=LG4, G=L69, F=LB9).

Well it is definitely a 5 speed manual. I believe they call it the T5 trans? But I forgot to get the vin too. Just a real quick look at the car. I believe if it was a true iroc wouldn’t say it on the logo under the z28 emblem on the dash? I’m thinking it probably had the lg4 motor. I’m not sure what the original color of the car was. I am thinking yellow. I am going to look at it more. Thanks for the feedback. I just have really started digging in on these researching but some information seems limited or mixed on things or hard to find the exact info you’re requesting.
