91 firebird ground effect bar removal

91 firebird ground effect bar removal

Hey guys im new here . i have a 91 firebird that i am removing the ground effects and unlike earlier models it has a metal reinforcement bar . it seems riveted in . is there an easy way to remove without grinding the heck out of that part of the car?

I don't know what you mean... all ground effects have a metal bar inlay which hold it to the body. You have to loosen the nuts from inside the car for every ground effect piece. But the earlier models have the same system...

There are big ones on the rocker panels, they are spot welded to the car.

Aaaah, now I understand what you mean. Yes you have to drill out the spot welds with a spot weld drill to remove these.

Thank you guys. I was hoping there might be bolts but will do with a drill. Any idea what size bit?

Iirc I always used an M10 or 3/8" special spot weld drill bit
