84 camaro z28 T tops

So I am having an issue with my T-tops on my 84 z28. I am replacing all the seals on my car and came across an issue with the T-top channel and had to get a replacement for it. When I removed the old one I had noticed that it appears that someone has welded in a new framing around the windshield and a small piece of the the body channel for the T-top. It is defiantly NOT a factory weld as I have been told by other people. The issue that I am having is that the new channel does not fit. The 2 ends should lay flush with the front and rear and it does not. We ground down the booger welds that were left behind from the botch job and unless I smash and alter the channel, no matter what I do I cannot get it to position correctly. I would like to find the dimensions for the T-tops alone but have not been able to find anything on them. I am starting to think that when they welded in the other framing that it threw off all the original dimensions and I would like to see how far it is off so I can finish my car. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
