how do you remove the shifter plate after youve unscrewed it
?i went to take it off today to clean inside their and the shifter was prohibiting it from coming off.do you have to take the whole shifter off,or is there another way?thanks for the help!

You have to take the shift **** off... also make sure you've taken off all the screws. Hey viking, that's impossible. My '86 IROC bone stock did a best of 15.7. Did you buy you car from someone who rebuilt the engine??

yeah, the shift **** slides off after taking out a staple like piece in the front of the ****. You can feel it with your index finger when your shifting. Slide that out and then it'll pull off.

there is a clip on the bottom of the ****, pull that out and pull the **** off, there is also a peice on the rear end that you must slide the plate towards the front of the car to slide it out.
