The 87' firebird drivers door mounted mirror adjuster is not functioning properly. I can move the little lever on the door around and the exterior door mirror moves only occasionally.
I've had the door panel off and see the mirror adjusting mechanism is linked to the mirror by three cables. Do the cables perhaps stretch over time?
Are there any tricks to fixing this common firebird problem?

The problem may be in the mirror itself. The plate the glass attaches to may be loose or something. I had a Cutlass where the driver's mirror did the same thing, and the pass. mirror on my Camaro flaps around a little.

might need some lubrication, the cables will stretch a little if ther eis too much friction.
