Is GM Weatherstripping worth the $$$

I priced out the following parts on www.gmpartsdirect.com and it came out to over $400 with shipping! It will be even more if I buy it straight from my local dealership. I can buy a www.soffseal.com kit from JCWhitney for $239 +shipping. I want a good seal and I don't want to have to do the job twice, but I don't want to pay out the butt either. What do you guys think?

Here's the GM P/N:
1012 4264
1012 4265
1019 8206
1019 8207
2035 0900
2035 0901
2059 8022
2059 8023

If it is anything else than T-top seals go for the cheaper stuff. If you have the Tops and want the weatherstripping for that then I would say GM. But any other brand for the doors and such is fine.

IMHO....SOFFSEAL SUCKS!!

I paid like ~$70 for the door seal set and dunno how much for the hatch seal...Anyway...the doors would not shut right with them on there, the big "blocks" at the ends of the seals (at the top of the doors on the front and rear of the door) were just big pieces of the foam weatherstrip....didn't have the hard plastic molded inside it like the OEM....so the screws that held them up there pulled thru. Total JUNK if you ask me. There is a reason it's half the price of the original, it's because you get 1/8th the quality of the original. Mine was on my driver's door for maybe 3 months before it was ripping and tearing because of those blocks falling down due to the screws continuously pulling out (I even went so far as to put BIGGER AND BIGGER washers in it each time it fell off AND! GLUE! I found an original seal on a salvage door and put that on there, doesn't look quite as nice as brand new weatherstrip, but at least it's not falling off. It will do for now till I get new GM weatherstrip. Try to make friends with parts people at your local dealer. If you can get them to sell you the stuff at "Trade" price (like what they'd sell to another dealer or a shop) instead of retail it will probably be close to or better than GMPartsDirect pricing after they bone it to you with their outrageous shipping charge. I dunno why they don't just sell like at a few % below trade then have a reasonable ship charge instead of quote u "cost" price then charge you $465 to ship you a 50 cent part. OK, I'm done flaming for now. Aftermarket sucks unless the OEM discontinued the part and it's classified as a "Restoration" piece

SOFF-SEAL SUCKS

Dude, dont buy it! I tried the window seals, and the first one I got was terrible, and so was the 2nd one I received. The seal was made by joining 2 pieces of weatherstriping, and the joint was SICK, I wish I had pics. The GM stuff was like 100 times better, but more thatn double the cost. The GM stuff just feels like a higher quality product. Personally, I will never purchase any SOFF-SEAL weatherstripping again. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks big time. I would have bought that crap and been pissed off. I will buy the OEM GM pieces and probably buy them off of www.gmpartsdirect.com Thanks Again.

Also it says on www.soffseal.com that they have a lifetime warranty - why don't you guys just send that crap back.

You get what you pay for. Also if it's in JC whitney how good can it be? The only thing I have seen in there that was decent was some 12v illuminated switches. Any actual specific part they sell is garbage. I would avoid them like the plague and go oem.
