I just bought a spoiler from a friend on the net, I have a white camaro, but the spoiler is black, how would I go about repainting it to white???

is it gonna be a a pain in the ars? if someone could tell me what to do as in, sand with what grit? primer and use what kind of paint, I want to go the inexpensive route, but at the same time get a good decent job done

First you have to look closely at the original paint? Is it peeling, cracking, flaking, or other serious problems? If you answer yes to any of these, then you are going to have to strip the piece completely.
You want to go cheap so, if the paint is in good shape, you can hand sand with 220 grit to "degloss" the spoiler, basically dull the old paint. Clean very, very well with warm soapy water. Rinse well with clean water. Dry very very well. Spray a primer (follow the spray can's directions as to distance, overlap and time between coats). Wet sand the primer with 400 grit. Repeat the cleaning process. Top coat with a color spray (following directions on can).
If the paint is in bad shape, use 80 grit to strip the old paint off, be careful not to make any deep grooves in the fiberglass. Then continue as above except you are using the 220 grit to smooth out the scratches from the 80 grit instead of "deglossing".

Some things to keep in mind.
1) Use a sanding block where ever possible, your fingers will create grooves in the surface.
2) When handling the piece prior to priming or painting, your fingerprints, will prevent paint from sticking properly. Do not touch any part with your fingers that will be painted after you have cleaned them. Wear latex or rubber gloves (make sure they are clean).
3) It is much, much better to spray light coats and be patient, than spray heavy coats. You can ruin all your prep work if you spray the paint on thick. Thick paint my drip, run, peel, NOT even stick in some cases.
4) FOLLOW THE SPRAY DIRECTIONS ON THE CANS. (especially re temp, distance, overlap, and time between coats.

Good luck.

Hello I hope your prep work is going fine, I have a similar problem I think the nose in my camaro is to low (I will see if I can post a picture) the front spoiler is in really bad shape now, the paint is peeled and the lower part of the air damm has a hole (not visible)

I want this to be repaired it make my car look very ugly.

Should I leave the fiberglass repair to professionals? I have never do something like that, or its pretty simple?

Also the grille is separated in its upper part fron the bumper, How can I take out the spoiler and grille?

Also at wich height fron the ground should be a stock v8 TBI camaro be? Could be that the front springs are worn?

I will measure the distance right now and will post later.

Thanks for any help.

How I can post any pictures? (you will see how ugly is the front now)

would that be teh spolier off the famous 87 IROC I had???? LOL
All it needed was to be sanded to take the gloss off it and run over to a shop and get them to spray some color on it....try MAACO.
