Need help Quick!!

Hi today I went to replace my rear break shoes after everything was done and adjusted I start the car and begin to take it for a test drive. Now the problem the break pedal is dead hard I mean it’s like when you turn the car off and pump the brakes till it gets hard, hard. Also the car will not stop without pulling the emergency brake! Any and all help is appreciated I need to get this fixed ASAP I have to drive it to work tomorrow and if I cant fix it the shops close at 5 today.

Well I drove it around the block and the problem went away until it slam on the breaks then it goes back to dead hard for a few min then it returns to normal. My father and me think it’s either not enough vacuum or the break booster. Are we on the right track?

That'd be the first thing I'd check...make sure that brake booster vacuum line is plugged in and free of obstructions.

This has happened to other readers. You should have a little Black Filter in the line ( Looks like a fuel filter ), that goes to the brake booster. Replace it. It's actually an air filter and over time they get clogged. Then you the booster does not recover vaccuum fast enough.

Power Brake Booster Filter

The pads will also need to be seasoned before they perform up to snuff, they won't grip that good until they're broken in after a few hundred miles. Read this:

I fixed it today it was the way the vacuum lines were routed. We had a few things running off the port in the back the one that suppose to be for the booster. So we rerouted everything so the booster has its own now it works great!

Hmmmm...you might want to point this out to certain people who think it's OK to Tee the PCV valve system into the Brake Booster line. I argued against it for exactly the reason you experienced. NOTHING should be Tee'd to the Brake Booster line. Period.

Glad you got it fixed.
