Rear Disc Brake Troubles

so i started replacimg my rear calipers, and pretty much i can't do anything. so im reading haynes and following the steps they go through, and i get to where i have to hold "the lever" and loosen "the nut" and pull off "the lever". i assumed the ebrake lever is the lever they mean, but when i try to pull the nut off it just spins the piston screw. how the hell am i supposed to loosen the damn thing when it just spins?
i'm tired of stuff going wrong and i just want my car on the damn road!

also are these the steps i really have to follow or can i just pull the caliper slider bolts out? sometime haynes gives extra steps but i never know which ones are the extra dumb ones.

thanks, Adam

As far as I can remember, you only need to disconnect the brake hose, parking brake cable, and remove the caliper mounting bolts. The only reason I could see for taking the parking brake lever off would be if your replacement calipers didn't come with parking brake hardware already mounted on them, which most of them do.

This method may not be "pretty" but it will work. Take a hacksaw blade and make a single cut right in the middle of the bolt that just spins. Make it deep enough to insert a standard screwdriver blade. Hold the center of the bolt with the screwdriver and use a box end wrench to loosen up the bolt from the outside, works every time for me.
