Replaced old drum brake rear end with disc brake posi. Can i use wildwood prop.valve?
I just replaced my old drum brake rear end with a disc brake 3 23 posi rear end.I drove the car around and the camaro still stops good but I heard that I have to change my proportioning valve when going from drums to disc.So i was just wondering if I can get the adjustable proportioning valves from wildwood or do I have to get the correct proportioning valve? Also when I install the proportioning valve,do I have to bleed the prop. valve or is it bleed once i bleed the entire system? Thanks in advance

Sure you can use the wilwood prop valve. You need to disable the factory valve first, but then all you need to do is plumb it in line and do some testing. You can remove the guts from the stock combo valve (do a search) or you can do what I did and remove the combo valve all together. I just used a t-fitting for the front brakes and ran the rears through the wilwood valve. I swear this did more for pedal feel then the braided lines did. There are some spring loaded valves in the combo valve that allow the rear brakes to engage first under light braking to help with wear, I believe this adds to pedal travel. You’ll lose your idiot light with this setup, they make sensors that can be plumbed in line if you like, but I seem to notice when my pedal hits the floor. These conclusions are based on things I've read on the net and my experience with disassembling stock combo valves, don't take it as gospel, it worked for me.

I'm about to change out my drum rear with a PBR 1Le type axle. I bought a wilwood valve and plan to pitch the old 'combo' valve.
What about this T fitting stuff? Did you plumb your front and rear master cyl outputs together? Doesn't one line operate the fronts and one operate the rears? I'm afraid I don't quite understand.

No you don't plumb them together, the line nearest the front of the car is the rear brake line, just make sure your APV is in this line somwhere. The front brake line needs to be split to go to both front brakes since you are no longer using the combo valve to do this, you need a t-fitting to split the line. Hope that helps.
