Outer Brake Pad On Caliper - Urgent Please Reply
Outer Brake Pad On Caliper - Urgent Please Reply
I have a new reman caliper and I am trying to put the outer brake pad onto it and bend the tabs over so the pad will be secure. I am finding this hard to do as the pad keeps moving and I don't have anything to secure the caliper, no vice to put the caliper into to hold it. Caliper is not on the car. What is the best way to do this? Should I buy some same small clamps and attach them onto the caliper and outerpad so I can bend the tabs over. Also what would be the correct tool to use. I bought some 10" slip groove pliers, I am not sure if these are going to work. Would like to here how other people have done this and the tools they used. I don't want to have to go to a mechanic to have them do it. The inner pad is no problem as it just clips into the piston.
ok, disregard this message (having a brain lock day! duhhh) easier to just lay outer pad on a flat surface and hold done with palm of hand and bend 2 tabs down with plier then push back onto caliper. seems to work. they stay on nice and tight.
