i scored a set of aluminum drums off an 86 camaro at the jy today. i have a 92 RS w/ the 16'' z28 wheels stock.

after i put the aluminum ones on in place of the cast iron ones and removed the little thin spacer, the pedal would shimmer like crazy whenever i braked the rears to maximum without activating the fronts. I could literally feel my foot vibrate pretty violently.

so, i tried putting the spacers on and they still did the exact same thing pretty much, maybe not as violently.

then i tried a burnout to see if it was just old brake dust on the outer drums but smoke started coming from the left side and since i have an open diff it must have been the brakes. (I couldn't see/hear the right side).

so what could it be? thanks in advance.

You should of had them turned before installing them, they could be over used.

is there a minimum thickness like rotors for these things?

if its not that, do you know what else it could be?

thanks!

also, is there a way to replace the pad on the outer drum (the part that slides off)? or is it junk basically?
