Delay In Brakes

I have this delay of about 4 seconds in my brakes. When I push in the brakes it doesnt release when I let of the pedal it takes it about 4 seconds. Is this normal? Its a pain in the *** when I want to go in reverse. Any suggestions?

Re: Delay In Brakes

How old are your brake lines? They could have failed internally and holding pressure after you release the peddle.

could be water got in the system or some old varnish in the lines desolved, flush them till they are clean and see if that makes a diferance, it also could be you need to reseat the brakes after siting so long, go do bout 6 hard stops working your way from bout 40 to 5mph, all the way to 65-70 to 5mph, but dont stop in the middle get the breaks good and hot then let them cool slowley, if new fluid and rebedding the breaks dont help i cant help you.

Re: Delay In Brakes

If your brake pedal is coming back up but your brakes are still applied (to at least one wheel) you've likely got residual pressure on that brake caliper/cylinder. Meaning the fluid is not finding an easy path back out. Usually caused by failing brake hoses as they deteriorate from the inside out. The MC can push fluid in under pressure to engage the brakes but the fluid can't get out and release the brakes. Check your flexible hoses, should be one at each front caliper and at least one in the rear.
