2 q's - rear disc brake upgrade 88-89 9 bolt

Ok so I want to upgrade the rear brakes on my car. Currently I have a 9 bolt rear end with disc brakes and I want to swap upto the 89 pbr style. I've got a couple questions;

1. Are the ebrake cables the same?

2. Are the brake lines the same?

So I'll be getting the backing plates, calipers and pads, 11.65" rotors. If the ebrake and brakes lines are the same, it should be a simple swap. Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

No, not the same:

You'll need disc cables for the PBR brakes. You can use your brake lines but you'll have to cut and flare one side of them, they are slightly different. It's a whole lot easier to just install a correct new set, the money spent is worth the time you'll spend doing the work.

ok thanks Ed. So is it worth the upgrade, or should I wait for a LS1 set?

Personally, I recommend the 1LE/LT1 rear discs over the LS1s for ease of install and direct fit of backing plates and cables. They give you plenty of rear brake. All in all it's a personal choice.
