question about my ls1 brakes

i have ls1 front brakes, and now have ls1 rear brakes, what if any thing do i need to do to make the brake system work well together? i have a good stiff pedal right now. only conplaint are my pads. they are way better than my 10.5" rotor+drum setup and i had hawk hps pads, braided lines and alum drums.

things i have seen around here,
master from 4th gen?
adj prop valve?

my car was disc drum from the factory

Re: question about my ls1 brakes

Im taking the complaint about the pads one of two ways... You are either wearing front fads out really quick, or you are saying your pads arent doing as good a job of stopping you as you think they should. If Im wrong forgive me.

Couple things to consider there... First is install and bed in. Did you make sure everything was really clean when installing the brakes...and then go through so sort of bed in procedure before really getting on the brakes? I just learned about the bed in thing a couple years ago, and it really do make a difference versus just going out and beating on the brakes.

Another thing to consider is your prop. valve. Its set up for disc fronts drum rears. A couple ways to deal with that is to get a prop. valve from a disc/disc car. That usually yields decent results. The way I went, is I ditched the valve all together. Ran front brakes right off the master cylinder, and rear brakes through a wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. I have nice control over how my car brakes, and I have never been in a car that stops as well as mine does now.

Of course all that advice could be for nothing... You gotta be alittle more specific about whats goin on with your brake system. Let us know and we'll help ya out.

Re: question about my ls1 brakes

no issues really i way more confident with my current set up than before, as far as pads, i bought the ls1 front brake set up from a guy here who sends you every things you need to bolt it up, the pads look like auto zone specials hence they suck. was just asking if there were any other parts guys were swaping out to get better performance out of the brakes, masters, boosters, prop valves. was asking b\c i have a 94 formula that im stripping out and useing the insides and motor and trans, so i have some parts on hand...
